Map of Spanish Islands and Costas   ♦    Costa del Sol Hotels

Costa del Sol is located in Southern Spain. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain, not only because of the very nice weather, with lots of sunshine and little rain, but also because of all the facilities available for tourists, and interesting tourist attractions not far from the coast, like for instance, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, all of them destinations within reach for on days trip.

Malaga is the capital of the region, and Costa del Sol stretches about 100 kilometers (60 miles) to the east of Malaga and all the way down to Gibraltar to the west of Malaga. Malaga has a large international airport where flights from most places in the world arrive. The airport is at present being extended so many more flights can land and depart in the future.

Costa del Sol is not only famous for its beaches, restaurants, hotels and villages, but also for its many beautiful golf courses. The area west of Malaga has therefore by many been named Costa del Golf, and you will even find road signs to that effect.

There are many well known cities along the coast, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Estepona, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Mijas, to name a few. Some of the places are very luxurious and expensive, others are much more affordable, but most places are very pleasant for a holiday or a longer term stay.
