There are several 5 star luxury hotels in Sevilla, but none of these are resorts in the traditional sense. Among the 5 star hotels one in particular stands out, not only because of the quality of the hotel but also because of its history and location.
Hotel Alfonso XIII, named after King Alfonso XIII who commissioned it in 1928, was designed to be Europe's most luxurious hotel. Situated among the arches and arabesques of the historic city center of Sevilla, the Hotel Alfonso XIII is only minutes from the Reales Alcazares and Plaza Espania. Built with brick, plaster, wood and ceramic, the ornate richness of the building is remarkable. Throughout its existence, numerous royal dignitaries have stayed at Hotel Alfonso XIII, and even today it continues to draw international celebrities.
There are other 5 star hotels in Sevilla, and although they may not be so famous, they are in many respects just as good, and most likely cheaper.
